KuralGPT.com: Bridging Ancient Wisdom with Modern AI

As a Technical Program Manager and AI enthusiast, I constantly look for ways to harmonize high-tech innovation with high-touch, meaningful human experiences. This pursuit led me to create KuralGPT.com.

The Vision

KuralGPT is a personal project designed as an AI chat assistant that allows users to interact "directly" with the philosophy of Saint Thiruvalluvar. By leveraging modern Generative AI, the assistant accesses the vast, timeless wisdom of the Thirukkural—a classic Tamil language text consisting of 1,330 short couplets of seven words each.

Why Thiruvalluvar?

The teachings of Saint Thiruvalluvar cover everything from virtue and wealth to love and personal integrity. However, for many modern seekers, translating ancient text into actionable advice for daily life problems can be challenging.

KuralGPT bridges this gap. You can ask the assistant about your modern-day dilemmas—whether it's managing workplace stress, dealing with relationships, or finding ethical clarity—and it will respond by interpreting appropriate couplets and applying them to your situation.

The Architecture

Building this required:

• Retrieval-Augmented Generation (RAG): To accurately source the right couplets based on user intent.
• Prompt Engineering: Tuning the Large Language Model to adopt a wise, composed, and encouraging tone reminiscent of a true sage.
• Accessibility: Creating a simple, intuitive web interface that anyone can use to find a moment of clarity.
